Antique Mirror Restoration
An antique mirror dating from 1860 was brought to KDMS by member Hubert Plante. The mirror’s ornate frame required significant repair work after decades of storage.
Director Les Eliason took on the restoration. The most complex aspect of the repair involved manufacturing new moldings to precisely match the original design.

RiverBend Bench Refurbishment
KDMS partnered with RiverBend Seniors Community to refurbish nine exterior mahogany benches for their residents. The project involved refinishing, reassembly, and on-site installation — helping create welcoming outdoor spaces where seniors can enjoy fresh air and community.

Bat Nursery Kits
KDMS members assisted the 2nd Kamara Rangers (Guides) with their year-end camp activity by preparing four bat nursery kits. Members went the extra-mile, preparing assembly videos to ensure a successful project for the Guides.

The Guides assembled the nurseries, conducted a bat count, and used a bat detector to identify the different species in the area.
TNRL Little Libraries
KDMS built and installed three little libraries for the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library, expanding book access across Kamloops. Each unit was handcrafted with weather-resistant shingled roofs, glass-paneled doors, and finished to match the library’s chosen colours before on-site installation.
“The library has been installed at the top of our stairway to the park and I know it will see a lot of interest and use by our residents.”

Accessibility Ramps
KDMS has joined efforts with People In Motion in order to construct multiple accessibility ramps in downtown Kamloops. This project aligns the shed’s goals of community improvement and support to other community-based organizations with the chance for hands-on work and collaboration amongst members.
If you operate a business in the downtown area which could be made more accessible through the use of an entrance ramp, consider contacting KDMS or People In Motion to make your interest known. Ramps are provided at no cost until the building materials are used up.
Furniture Repair
KDMS can help you enjoy more years from your wooden furniture. It can be challenging to find someone locally who will repair your exisitng furniture and new, quality furniture can be too expensive for many of us. The Men’s Shed can have a look and determine if one of our members can repair your table, chair, dresser, etc.
